They would be solid for a camping birthday party too! (affiliate links present)
Camping Cupcakes
We love making fun cupcakes and we will share a few other fun ones below too so you can try them all. It's a great way to get kids involved in decorating as it is a small surface and you can dress up a cupcake and create something cute.
- pretzel sticks
- mini white marshmallows
- cupcakes – this is how to make 6 cupcakes if you want a small batch
- frosting – chocolate & red work best (put into a pint sized freezer zipbag, cut off end to squeeze out)

How to Make Campfire Cupcakes
You can buy already colored buttercream frosting or make your own but we are all about easy so we used what we had at home. We colored white frosting red, and melted a few chocolate chips and mixed them with our white frosting to make the brown chocolate you see here.
If you don't have pastry bags use a pint sized freezer ziploc, cut the corner off after you fill it with frosting and pipe the frosting on that way. We made these a regular size but they could be even cuter smaller. This is how long to bake mini cupcakes too.
We also make it easier on myself by making chocolate cupcakes with boxed cake mix. If from scratch is your thing with your favorite chocolate cupcake recipe, have at it!! If you're making camping cupcakes for a party then make the whole box. Bake in the oven or if you are making a small batch you can make a few air fryer cupcakes like this.

Bonfire Cupcakes Recipe
Once you have your brown (for dirt) and red food colored frosting (for fire) in large piping bags with a star tip or pint size freezer plastic bags ready to squeeze out you can move on to the next step of putting it all together.
You can use a lighter to brown those marshmallows (adults only of course for that part). Want to serve these with a meal as you are glamping with the kids or having a camping theme party? Make a few foil packet meals for camping on the bonfire to make it feel more authentic.

- Use the brown frosting to make large dots on the top all the way around in two rows leaving the middle open. Use the red frosting to make dollops of "fire flames" in the center that are somewhat high.
- Break pretzels in half, or leave as is, leaning them against one another to create a log look with a peak at the top.
- Add mini marshmallows to other pretzel sticks at the ends to look like they are ready for roasting.
