Crockpot Cobbler

This peach Crockpot cobbler with frozen fruit (no cake mix) is good! Use any variety of fruit you like but if you loved our dump peach cobbler We would choose the same but allow to bubble for a few hours with little effort on your part.

We made this Crockpot cobbler with frozen fruit the other night and it was killer. Instead of prepping the peaches or pears you dump right out of the bag and layer in your pot. With a simple batter you don't have to turn on your oven to bake anymore. One of our favorite easy Crockpot recipes on our site.
This is kinda' to our Crockpot apple crisp recipe but that uses fresh fruit and takes a lot longer to prepare. We don't know about you but if it is the summertime we never use our oven to bake. When we were living in SoCal and it was over 100 degrees outside there was NO way we was turning our oven on. This was the way to desserts.
SO we was all about making any and all versions of our Crockpot apple dump cake. That one uses canned pie filling, so much sweeter and a bit looser because of the sauce inside. This one tastes more like you added fresh slices of peaches because when they warm they defrost and you'd never know they were frozen.
Let's talk a little bit about slow cooking shall we?? First off we have a few different varieties and we love them all. Each one has an occasion to be used like….
- This is our favorite 6 quart programmable one with a locking lid so it's great for bringing to a potluck too.
- We prefer not to use liners, but rather spray olive oil inside before adding our food for easier cleanups.
Let us give you a peek of our pretty thang we bought recently. It goes with our kitchen so we can leave it out on the countertop all the time.

So we will call it a few different things. A cobbler usually has a sort of muffin crumb topping with oats and brown sugar on top. That is an optional element or could be left off entirely. Instead of using cake mix, a simple batter was created to pour on top. It is a bit thinner which allows it to seep in between the crevices and bake from top to bottom.
How to Make Cobbler in Slow Cooker
It's all about the layering. First thing first you will want to spray the inside with some non stick spray so it slides out nicely when done. Then you'll want some melted butter, your fruit, sugar, and then the 5 ingredient batter that will create your cake of sorts.
Then cover and cook for a few hours until the cake is cooked thru and tender all the way to the bottom. Note that the edges will be more done than the center, so check the middle for overall “doneness”. Similar to our peach cobbler with cake mix baked in the oven but low and slow.

Peach Cobbler with Frozen Fruit
We are all about quick easy dessert recipes on our site. If it is a weird ingredient or it takes multiple steps to make, our brain turns off. We're a busy gal with three kids, a house to take care of and both of us work. That leaves little time for complex anything.
That is why we make a lot of dump cake recipes. Now that our girls are older they have gotten into cooking themselves and have fun coming up with different flavor combinations for these too. We would consider this to fall into that category. All are layered, use fruit in some form and some sort of quick batter.
The 5 ingredient cake mix We used here is basic, but sweet enough. You can use any type of pie filling for that and it turns out like a spoon cake too. Ok, we're getting side tracked, sorry we have a lot of YUM on our site to share…..

If you wanted to make this as one of our boxed cake mix recipes you could, we think this tastes a bit more like homemade. For that we would suggest canned versus frozen fruit because it turns out better. Here are the instructions and what you need for that method
Ingredient notes
You will want to start with a bag of frozen fruitpeaches were used this time but you could use another variety. There are brand names and store brands that are cheaper, we have used them both and you cannot tell the difference so save a buck.
- Butter1 stick will do
- White sugar will sweeten your batter on the top
- All purpose flour and baking powder for dry ingredients
- Cinnamon goes well with this fruit
- Milk 2% or whole is best
Crockpot Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix
To make it this way you would want to use 2 cans of pie filling (42 oz. total) instead. then you will want to add 8 ounces of butter cut into smaller pats and layer with a box of yellow cake mix or white would work best
You want to spray the inside of your slow cooker with non stick spray, layer the pie filling, sprinkle cake mix over the top with pats of butter sprinkle over that. If you want to add some chopped nuts over that you could but we don't.
Set to high for two to 2.5 hours until the middle is cooked thru and batter isn't sticky. Don't expect to slice cake mix cobbler or this version. Neither of these come out nicely. use a large serving spoon to scoop it up and top with scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Back to using frozen fruit, because we think that turns out better overall. You could easily use any other type of frozen berries for a berry cobbler if you'd like. We have seen blueberries, blackberries, a cherry cobbler with cake mixeven frozen rhubarb might be nice. Use 32 ounces of one or mix a few together for the below method.
How Long to Cook Cobbler in a Crockpot
Once you layer all of the ingredients you will want to cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours cooking time. You will know when it is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with moist crumbs attached, not dry, and with no wet batter attached.
It is nice right out of the pot and warm. If you'll enjoy it for an hour or so make sure it is turned off and not kept on warm. If you do the bottom will continue to cook and may get too done to your liking. Top with fresh triple berries for freshness and enjoy this cobbler recipe of ours.
