We don't like leaving any food to waste and when it comes to ham it's too good to throw away. You could easily use lunch meat too, roll up a piece and use in place of the ham you see here. Turkey, roast beef, use whatever you have on hand for these or our Ham and Cheese Crepes.
What can you make with leftover ham other than sandwiches?
Use 1 crescent roll on a non stick sprayed pan, put 1 piece of ham, cheese, a small bit of mayo and roll it up with the cheese on top. The cheese will ooze a bit and go on to the pan but seriously that is the BEST part for us. If you allow them to cool once they are done the oozed cheese will harden a bit and get crispy!! SO good!
Ingredients
- Refrigerated crescent rolls
- Leftover ham or thinly sliced and rolled up lunchmeat
- Cheese sliced into finger sized pieces, shredded cheese doesn't work as well
- Mayonnaise
A bit of dill or poppy seeds sprinkled inside are good too. You can leave out the meat entirely and make cheese crescent rolls of course. Swap cheeses in and out to see which is your favorite combination for your family.

Roll Ups with Pizza Dough
If you did not have crescents then other refrigerated or defrosted frozen rolls or Pillsbury pizza dough could be used instead. You would need to thaw them for about 45 minutes and then roll out flat. Roll up your fillings and follow the directions from there. Bake time will vary between each one slightly, and depending on it's thickness.
What type of ham should we use for baked ham roll ups?You can use any type of ham that you prefer for the roll ups. Sliced deli ham works well, as it is thin and easy to roll. You can choose from options like honey ham, smoked ham, or black forest ham, depending on your taste preferences.
What cheese is best for Baked Ham and Cheese Roll Ups?The choice of cheese depends on personal preference, but mild and meltable cheeses are commonly used. Mozzarella, Swiss, cheddar, or provolone are popular. These cheeses provide a creamy and flavorful filling that pairs well with the ham.
Can we make Baked Ham and Cheese Roll Ups in advance?Once assembled, you can cover them tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate them until you are ready to bake. Keep in mind that the rolls may need slightly more baking time if they are chilled though. We wouldn't make further ahead then a few hours or the texture will change too much.
We used a baking sheet for this but you could use a large casserole dish or pizza sheet. Sometimes the cheese does want to kinda' ooze out so if you want to make things easier to clean later you can line the pan with parchment paper first. Up to you.
