Seriously, these will change the way you make breakfast on the weekends. We mean you could make these while you're getting dressed for work in the morning too! In 30 minutes the yolks will be perfectly runny and ready to enjoy. one easy Crockpot recipe We've shared over the years.

We don't know about you but we love this protein packed food and had a ton of them when we owned chickens. There are many ways to cook eggs out there. The “old fashioned” method would be to boil them, we never ever do that anymore.

Years ago we made Instant Pot hard boiled eggs and that was a game changer. SO much easier than waiting for water to boil and they come out perfectly every time. You can make air fryer soft boiled eggs too but not everyone has one of those machines (but you should). Now you can make them low and slow like this….

How Long to Cook Eggs in Slow Cooker

There are several styles to cooking these when it comes to this favorite breakfast. You may like your yolks hard, slightly soft or runny. We will go over all options here.

How to Cook Poached Eggs in Slow Cooker

For soft boiled or poached style essentially (where the yolk is runny) you want to use some silicone baking cups not paper – those won't work. These are reusable and you could use it to steam other things this way too, even cupcakes!! 1 cracked in each one with a bit of water takes about 30 minutes to perfection and a great way to make them in bulk.

How to Cook Scrambled Eggs in Slow Cooker

We have made Crockpot scrambled eggs too and it does work great. To us that doesn't make a lot of sense. They are quite easy to whip up, throw into a pan and cook in a few minutes but we do have instructions if you choose to do it this way. If we want hard or soft boiled we make them this way or an no peel hard boiled eggs.

You can leave the shell on or off as you see here. There are reasons to do one over the other. If you want to keep them to eat in the morning you'd want to leave them whole and not crack them. That way you can cool, and crack them out of the shell when you're ready to consume them.

How Long to Cook Hard Boiled Eggs in Slow Cooker (in Shell)

Lay one layer of eggs on bottom of the pot. Pour in enough water to barely cover them. Cook on high for 2.5 hours. Drain water and fill pot with cold water with some ice cubes. Eat immediately, make crack chicken deviled eggs out of them or put into a bag and refrigerate to eat later

If you're eating them right away and/or want them done faster than eliminate the egg shells. For this method you see here you'll need some silicone baking cups. This will be a vessel to keep the eggs contained but allow them to steam essentially in less than an hour.

Ingredient notes

You are going to start with several fresh eggs of course. We prefer organic free range variety because they have a deeper richer flavor than “regular” ones do. As far as anything else goes you will need some water to steam in the pot itself and seasonings. As far as seasonings go sprinkle on what you'd normally do if cooking an over easy egg in a pan. Salt and pepper are a given but you might like a little heat with chili powder too or something.

A little non stick cooking spray is helpful so they slide right out when done. Paper towels and the lid for the pot itself will be used too.

Swaps

You could make these into a sort of small omelettes of sorts too. This is how you'd do that. Crack the same amount of eggs as cups you are going to use in a bowl. Whisk egg mixture and then add in all your mix ins like shredded cheese, bell pepper, even defrosted shredded hash browns out of the bag. Pour into your cups and place into your pot. Same directions for the rest as below to make this egg casserole type of eggs recipe in Crock pot

We have used eggs to make our Crockpot breakfast casserole dish too. If you had a bunch of people over for Christmas brunch you could make both….if you had a few pots that is. For these you need to sit them in a single layer so depending on the size of your crock you'll likely only cook 4-6 at a time.

Can you use ramekins to cook eggs in a slow cooker?

Yes, we use silicone muffin cups but small 4 ounce porcelain ramekins would work the same way where you crack 1 egg in each and steam until the yolk is cooked to your preference.

Tips

We are not a fan of using slow cooker liners in general and in this case there is no need since nothing is touching sides other than the water. Nutritional facts such as saturated fat will be different depending on the eggs you choose, refer to the carton for that to be more accurate.

Make sure you give the inside of these babies a little spritz of olive oil or something. That way they will pop right out as you see here and are easier to serve up. Kids love these for many reasons but they can be a finger food once out of the cup.

Of course they are less messy if the yolk is hard but if you want soft boiled or more of a poached egg We'd us a plate. Feel free to season when you crack them or after they are done. We don't feel there is a difference either way.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 large eggs
  • 1.5 cup water, or 1/2" high in your crock.
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Pour about 1.5 cups water into your slow cooker or enough where it is about 1/2" high inside your pot (larger pots will need more than smaller ones).
  • Spray inside of each silicone muffin cup with non stick spray. Crack one egg into each silicone cup and lower down into the pot so it is surrounded by the water around the bottom (so it can steam). Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Fit as many as you can without overlapping, they need to sit flat on the bottom.
  • Fold two thick paper towels and place on top with the lid placed on top of that (this will absorb the steam so the eggs don't get super wet).
  • Cook on high for 30 minutes for soft boiled eggs or 45 minutes to 60 minutes for hard boiled or so the yolk is not runny at all.
  • Squeeze lightly at the bottom and they will pop right out, season and eat.
