What can you use instead of oil to make brownies? There are lots of options if there is an allergy, you ran out or want a healthier option for vegetable oil. Instead a great substitute used in baked goods would be Greek yogurt, applesauce or you can even use pumpkin puree!

The trick to them coming out perfectly is to preheat your oven to 350 and under bake them. You want the top of the brownies and edges to be lightly browned. Stiffer in this case, hard to see brown with the red food coloring.
How do you make a brownie more fudgy?
First off you don't want to cook them too long. On the outside of your red velvet brownies from cake mix it will be somewhat firm. The middle will start to firm up but it will still feel like it isn't quite done. That is when we take them out. It is best to allow your brownies to cool completely in the pan too to firm up. Add fat too, like a few tbsp of Nutella or chocolate chips. More fat means fudgy brownies.

Line your 8×8 pan with parchment paper and allow them to cool in the pan. Then lift them out and set on a flat surface. They will slice a lot cleaner too if you do it this way. Yes it helps to use non stick spray but they will still be harder to lift out in one piece in the pan.
Is it possible to make vegan or gluten free red velvet brownies?
Yes, we have seen brands that offer gluten-free cake mix which you could then use. Since the additional ingredients would be safe you would swap that one ingredient out and go from there. The baking time may vary because of the difference though.
